The Tour!

The idea started with a question from the team (Mei and Liz) about whether I would be doing book signings for Bravespace Workplace, my new book due out in May. I answered “Yes, I think so…”, while explaining that a modern “book tour” a’ la Michelle Obama is rarified air reserved for the very famous. Despite modest success with my first book, FIT Matters, I would have to make any tour happen due to my own effort, although my Publisher Maven House Press would be completely on Board.

So, we started thinking and dreaming and planning all the exciting projects happening this year and how a book tour might fit in.  And over time the idea shaped up that it would work best to bundle our new offerings together as we took the road. It feels liberating and scary and we are thinking big. As I say in Bravespace, I am tired of knowing what it takes to make a human hospitable workplace and watching so many organizations not do it.

We will be hitting the road next month with The Brave Tour and so hope you are able to join somewhere along the way. The Tour launches in March and continues through September with a different City each month. The trip represents a culmination of research and client interactions and we can’t wait to share it with you.

The 3 offerings on The Tour are:

  1. Fit for Human Life: The Bravespace Workshop, a half day for leaders wanting to make their company one in which people can bring their best to work every day.

  2. Dare to Lead™ a 2-day leadership development workshop based on Dr. Brene’ Brown’s empirically based courage-building program offering leaders skills for having hard conversations, holding themselves and others accountable, leading with empathy and connection, taking smart risks that lead to innovation, building trust, resetting quickly after disappointments and setbacks, and giving and receiving feedback – even when it’s tough. Especially when it’s tough. (Certification is Optional)

  3. Get It, Together: Listening Sessions With Women on Racial Equity and Partnership at Work (3 hours.) These sessions are hosting structured dialogue sessions for white women and women of color to explore how we (women) work together and where we don’t; what gets in the way; where it hurts; where it works. What we learn will shape and inform programs we envision towards the end of the year.

We can’t wait to see you again if we know you and to meet you if we don’t.

We envision a lot of learning, for us and for you. We want to try your local eats and enjoy the sites and explore all the things you do to make your company fit for human life and to support your leaders when they most need to be brave. We can’t wait to see the sunrise where you live and work, enjoy your coffee spots, and to listen. We are bringing content, energy, books, experience, open hearts and minds, and our steadfast belief that people make organizations great and that work can and should be a place where human beings thrive.
